Sarah Fowler is the oldest of seven children and grew up on
a small farm near Thompson, Ohio. An
entrepreneur at heart, Sarah has enjoyed a number of small business ventures,
including starting a successful egg production and sales business at age
eleven. She owned and operated “Sarah’s
Eggs” for thirteen years; marketing to home delivery customers, local
chiropractic offices and several stores, until selling the business in 2012. Sarah also continues to be involved in her parents’
business doing bookkeeping, graphic design,
sales, and marketing.
In addition to her entrepreneurial and business experience, Sarah has taught hands-on skills to small classes of adults and children in the United States and Mexico. Throughout her teen years, Sarah was involved in 4-H and church service projects in the community. Sarah continues to enjoy serving and is a member of Orwell Bible Church. As a young woman, Sarah decided to follow her grandmother’s footsteps and has worked the polls in Ashtabula County for the past seven years. She encourages young people to exercise their right and responsibility as American citizens by becoming informed voters.
Sarah became interested in politics at the age of sixteen through the ‘Ohio Constitutional Marriage Amendment’. She developed ‘InfoQuest’, an e-news source designed to provide local friends and voters with concise, accurate candidate information and periodic updates on specific state and federal issues. Sarah also participated in several citizens’ initiative petition drives; including the ‘Ohio Sovereignty Amendment’, the ‘Ohio Personhood Amendment’ and the ‘Ohio Healthcare Freedom Amendment’ (which was approved by a two-thirds majority of Ohio voters in 2010). She served as the Ashtabula County co-coordinator during the Healthcare Freedom petition drive and subsequent campaign. Sarah was elected to the State Board of Education in November 2012 to fill an uncompleted term of two years. During her time on the board, she has opposed many bureaucratic policies, fulfilling her campaign promises to support parental direction of their children’s education and local control of Ohio’s public schools.
Sarah resides on a farm in Ashtabula County with her family. She enjoys reading, writing, gardening, camping and hiking. You will often find her reading aloud to her younger siblings or cheering on their softball teams. Sarah was homeschooled and credits her parents and grandparents (who were special education teachers in Euclid City Schools) for instilling in her valuable life lessons of hard work, respect, loyalty and love for God and others.
